Kopling kisi terdiri dari dua hub poros, pegas kisi logam, dan kit penutup terpisah (yang mencakup dua bagian penutup, gasket, segel, dan perangkat keras).Torsi ditransmisikan antara dua hub poros kopling melalui elemen pegas kisi logam.Penutup split mencegah pegas terlempar di bawah aksi gaya sentrifugal.Minyak pelumas ada di dalam penutup, yang melumasi kontak antara pegas dan permukaan gigi jika terjadi gesekan kering.

 

Kopling kisi tersedia dengan desain penutup split horizontal atau vertikal.Penutup horizontal umumnya dipandang lebih mudah dipasang ( dapat dipasang dan dilepas kapan saja), sedangkan penutup vertikal memungkinkan kopling grid dijalankan pada kecepatan maksimum yang lebih tinggi dan harus dipasang pada poros sebelum kopling dipasang.

 

Kopling kisi juga tersedia dalam desain spacer dan setengah spacer, yang ideal untuk memungkinkan peralatan diservis.Desain seperti ini sangat populer dalam aplikasi pompa, di mana bagian drop-out (desain spacer penuh) atau pemutusan cepat (desain half-spacer) memungkinkan servis peralatan tanpa mengganggu elemen kopling grid yang dilumasi.
